Data analysis is the most fundamental part of an integrated workflow. Ensuring data is available for the reservoir, completion, geomechanical properties, and the characteristics of the hydrocarbon fluid in place is an essential part of understanding the oilfield environment which requires optimization. More often that not, minimum data is sufficient to be able to model a well, however, when more quality data is available, this reduces the uncertainty in well modelling and optimization processes. Data analysis may encompass:
- Data confirmation, to ensure all required data is available, and relevant to the specific well, cluster of wells, or field;
- Quality checks, to ensure no erroneous data (for example, from equipment failure), will be carried forward in subsequent stages of the integrated workflow;
- Comparisons of log data versus cores and samples data to check that data used is reliable.
